Get to know Urologist Dr. Sarat Sabharwal, who serves patients in Kissimmee/Orlando, Florida.
Dr. Sabharwal is a board-certified urologist who performs advanced Urologic and reconstructive procedures. He is one of the very few surgeons in the country who has extensive training in both open and minimally invasive techniques for the management of complex urologic disorders. Dr. Sabharwal is passionate about offering cutting-edge diagnostics,
treatments, and therapies to help patients achieve amazing results. He offers a holistic approach to his patients, desiring that each individual receives a complete, personalized treatment plan that seeks to meet his or her needs. He also specializes in male services such as hair restoration, vasectomy, vasectomy reversal, natural rejuvenation with growth factors, and more. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Sabharwal earned his medical degree from the Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City, Iowa. He completed six years of residency training in general surgery and urology at the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, Ohio. He then went on to complete his fellowship in robotic surgery. Dr. Sabharwal pursued further advanced training in cosmetic surgery. He also received extensive training in hair restoration at St. Louis University.
Having done over 1,100 robotic procedures, he is a recognized leader in nerve sparing and endopelvic fascia sparing techniques to improve impotence and continence outcomes after robotic prostatectomy. A Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Sabharwal is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology, whose mission is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, as well as to work with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care. In an attempt to further enhance his professional development, he remains a member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery, the American Society of Lipo-Suction Surgery, the International Society of Cosmetogynecology, the American Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons, and the American Society of Cosmetic Laser Surgery. Urology, also known as genitourinary surgery, is the branch of medicine that focuses on surgical and medical diseases of the male and female urinary-tract system and the male reproductive organs. Urologists specialize in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system. Patients may be referred to a urologist if their physician suspects they may need treatment for a condition relating to the bladder, urethra, ureters, kidneys, and adrenal glands. As a testament to his knowledge in the field, Dr. Sabharwal has won nearly half a dozen awards. He was placed on both the Dean’s List and President’s List consistently during his time in school, as well as earned the opportunity to join Alpha Epsilon Delta and Beta Beta Beta. Beyond that, he won second place in the Ohio Urological Society Residents Essay Contest, first place in the Toledo Surgical Society Paper Presentation, and was on the Who’s Who listings in 2018. Attributing his success to his drive for education and the ability to stay motivated, Dr. Sabharwal’s favorite professional publication is the American Journal of Urology. Dr. Sabharwal is affiliated with Lake Nona University Hopsital.
On December 30 2022, Dr. Sabharwal performed his first InterStim Implant and he became a member of a community that offers hope and delivers relief for symptoms often kept in the shadows. While this date marks a surgical procedure, a hard skill for which he spent years in training - it is intrinsically linked to the soft skill of comforting and educating patients through healing conversations. That is the true foundation of this 25-year legacy and what we find most powerful, transcendent, and worthy of celebrating.
