What is HALO?

HALO is a hybrid fractional laser with ablative and nonablative lasers, used to target the deep layers of the skin. Using laser wavelengths, this treatment reverses signs of aging and focuses on the texture of the skin. The best candidates for this procedure would be those with enlarged pores, uneven texture, wrinkles and fine lines, and sun damage. This treatment aims at producing a more youthful appearance. During the procedure, a topical anesthetic will be applied to your face, and it will sit for about 1 hour, to reduce discomfort. Then our doctor will begin the procedure, which should take roughly 30 minutes. It is likely that you will feel a strong heat sensation, but our doctor can adjust the settings depending on your tolerance level. After the procedure, it is likely that you will see some redness, and your skin will peel during the next several days. The healing process will last around 1-2 weeks.

We currently offer the HALO procedure on the face, neck, and décolleté.

What is BBL?

BBL Photofacial uses Broad Band Light, which is similar to intense pulsed lights (IPL), to target the upper layers of the skin. This treatment focuses on pigmentation issues such as brown spots, sun damage, rosacea, and freckles. This procedure is more gentle than HALO, therefore it requires minimal downtime. There might be some redness after the procedure, but it should go away in a few days. During the treatment, the superficial layers of the skin will be heated, causing dark pigments to break down and stimulate your body’s natural healing process.

We currently offer the BBL Photofacial on the face, neck, décolleté, and hands.

Key Similarities

Both target sun damage, uneven skin tone, acne scars, wrinkles, enlarged pores, and fine lines.

Both stimulate collagen production

Key Differences

Number of Treatments: Halo needs 1-2 sessions since it is more aggressive, BBL needs about 5 sessions

Price: Halo is more expensive than BBL, since it does not have to be done as often due to its intensity

Skin Depth: Halo targets deeper layers of the skin, BBL targets the upper layers

Downtime/Healing: Halo takes 1-2 weeks to heal, BBL takes a few days.
