Laser skin resurfacing is a minimally-invasive procedure that utilizes laser technology to rejuvenate the facial skin. The laser breaks down the existing layers of the skin in order to allow fresh layers to be produced in their place. The promotion of collagen production leads to healthier, firmer looking skin to grow. Laser skin resurfacing is an effective technique that helps diminish the appearance of wrinkles, acne, sun damage, and other blemishes. Beautiful Orlando Medical Spa and Cosmetic is the best option for this treatment in the greater Orlando area, located in Kissimmee, FL.

 ABOUT HALO

Halo is the world’s first hybrid fractional laser, delivering both ablative and non-ablative wavelengths to the same microscopic treatment area. This revolutionary dual-wavelength feature is unique among other lasers because it allows patients to attain gorgeous results with minimal downtime. We love to refer to the results as the “Halo Glow” because the Halo restores the skin’s surface back to a radiant and youthful glow. Our spa and cosmetic surgery practice in Kissimmee, FL uses Halo laser skin resurfacing to address sun damage, as well as the effects that occur due to the body’s natural aging process. The depth and aggression of the laser can be controlled based on the condition being treated. The more aggressive or deeper resurfacing approach is known as ablation.  The less aggressive, non-ablative process is less intense and reduces the overall recovery time. The results are not as dramatic, but still natural and appealing.

HALO is good for:

  • All Skin Types
  • Discoloration
  • Sun Damage
  • Visible Signs of Aging
  • Uneven Skin Tone

  • Melasma

HALO by Sciton has been awarded the 2023 ‘Best Multitasking Laser’ by NewBeauty Magazine. It has also won awards in 2016, 2017, 2018, and 2019 by realself., THE Aesthetic IndustryNewBeauty, and My Face My Body, respectively.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Before our doctor begins the procedure, a topical numbing cream will be applied to reduce any pain or discomfort you might feel. We will let this sit for at least 1 hour to reduce your discomfort to a minimum. Our doctor will then aim brief, pulsating beams of light to the damaged skin. The laser will ultimately destroy the unwanted skin layer by layer. The depth depends on the patient’s particular condition and needs, our doctor will discuss with you the setting in which your treatment will be done at. The laser beam removes the outer layer of skin, which is known as the epidermis. At the same time, the laser is heating the dermis, the layer underneath, which stimulates the growth of collagen. Once the damaged layers of skin are destroyed, it will begin to crust, flake, and peel away over the course of several weeks. Once this process is complete, new skin will appear in its place that’s healthier, brighter, younger looking, and more even-toned.

OTHER CONSIDERATIONS

Even though laser skin resurfacing is nonsurgical and is considered noninvasive, there generally is some downtime associated with the procedure depending on the level of aggression. To ease any discomfort during treatment, our practitioner may choose to numb the skin using a local anesthetic. A sedative can also be given to relax the patient. The doctor places the laser on the treatment area for a short amount of time and repeats this process until all of the damaged skin has been treated. After the ablative procedure, the treated skin will appear swollen, itchy and raw.  New skin is usually generated in about 1 week. With non-ablation, a patient can expect swelling and redness which can be remedied with ice packs.

AFTER CARE

It is likely that your skin will be red and swollen immediately after your treatment. You are able to apply ice for a few days to reduce inflammation and discomfort. Your skin might peel and you might notice some dark spots; this is normal, as your skin cells are regenerating. This can last about one week, depending on the patient. It is important to not scratch your face, and to avoid makeup until your skin has healed. Remember that every patient is different, and so you might not experience the same things as others. Be mindful and take the doctor’s advice. If you have any doubts feel free to give our office a call.
