About PDO Thread Lifts

At Beautiful Orlando Spa and Cosmetic in Kissimmee, FL, our skilled and highly trained team provides thread lift treatments as an alternative to a surgical facelift. One of our thread lift options utilizes Polydioxanone (PDO) sutures that can be absorbed by the body in order to lift and contour loose skin and tissue on the face. Performed in one of our private treatment rooms, a thread lift can create a smoother, younger appearance to the face without the downtime that is required for a more invasive procedure option. Additionally, the threads stimulate collagen production, allowing for the development of healthier skin over time. Contact Beautiful Orlando Spa and Cosmetic Surgery in Kissimmee near Orlando, FL to learn more about a thread lift procedure and to schedule your initial consultation.

PDO Threads

A PDO thread lift rejuvenates and tightens sagging skin tissue using threads made of polydioxanone, hence the term PDO thread lift. The threads are introduced into the deeper layers of the skin, producing instant lifting, cellular renewal, collagen stimulation, and skin tightening. These benefits are long-lasting and can help you attain a youthful, rested look in a minimally invasive manner.

Mesh or Lift: Two types of Procedures with PDO Thread Lift

  • The first one (using smooth threads) consists of creating a mesh under the skin. This mesh will serve as the foundation for our new collagen production. This technique tightens the skin naturally from within. Results appear naturally without any drastic change.
  • The other technique (using barbed threads) is utilized to produce a more dramatic and immediate result. The PDO sutures have "barbs", which provide a grip underneath the skin. Sutures can be pulled in 1 or 2 directions, creating an instant skin repositioning. The skin will then build collagen and secure the lift!

What to Expect

Before the procedure, a local anesthetic will be applied to your skin to reduce any discomfort you might feel. The threads will then be inserted near your upper cheek; the number of threads that you need will be addressed by the doctor before the treatment begins. After your thread lift, you will be able to leave to recover at home. You may have some redness, bruising, and swelling in and around the thread insertion and exit points for several days. Thread lifts can yield visible results directly after the procedure. You should see smoother skin with a lifted and contoured appearance. With proper care, results can last for several years. Additional threads may need to be used after the initial procedure to maintain results.

After your procedure the doctor will provide you with some aftercare instructions that are crucial to follow in order to facilitate the healing process. Some of these might include, avoiding exercise/excessive sweating, rubbing your face, and drinking with a straw for about 1-2 weeks. Swelling for a couple of days is normal, and you can return to your normal activities within the week. The healing process might differ from patient to patient, so it's important that you follow the doctor's guidance. If you have any questions or concerns you are always welcome to call our office.
